Capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan is located in the west. Mangrove natural forest is located in Selirong Island at the north end of the east area. We can go to this island by chartered ship.

Selirong Island is fully covered by mangrove. In a part of mangroves, there is wooden road arranged by Brunei Government. And we can walk on it. To this island, invaders from neighboring countries come and steal mangrove trees and wooden road; therefore, armed guards stay permanently. In Selirong Island, at the central portion away from Visitors Center, we can see particularly marvelous mangrove primeval with trees as high as 40m.

Ricoh wishes this place is permanently maintained and is working on Brunei Government to have it registered to Ramsar Convention and to the World Heritage.

There is no doubt that in the future, this place will be an important sightseeing resource for Brunei. Preparation for sightseeing "Eco Tour" has begun, in order to give consideration to avoiding wrong development and too many sightseers.

In the east of Brunei, there is Ulu Temburong National Park where typical tropical rain forest primeval represented by Dipterocarpaceae remains.
