Ricoh considers it important to conserve biodiversity and ecological system and is making social contribution. "To conserve biodiversity and ecological system" is to conserve the places as they are, where various creatures live in proper balance. As one of such places, we have "The Afan Woodland" http://www.afannomori.com/."The Afan Woodland" is broad leaf wood forest of about 30,000 tubo (about 100,000 m2 or 25,000 acre) located in Shinano-machi, Nagano Prefecture. It is managed by "THE C. W. NICOL AFAN WOODLAND TRUST". "The Afan Woodland" was wild secondary forest (once improved by human hands), which Mr. C. W. Nicol, author and naturalist has gradually bought and taken care of over 17 years to have it recovered. Thanks to his efforts, it is now approaching to the "natural forest" where various animals and plants live.

Ricoh is one of the starting members of THE C. W. NICOL AFAN WOOD LAND TRUST.
In cooperation with the Foundation, it started "Ricoh Parents and Children Forest Experiencing Program" in 2002.
Various creatures in the Afan Woodland live in a proper balance.
This experiencing program aims to have people realize that "the forest is alive", through actually watching how the wild forest is recovered by human hands and the balanced living of various creatures.
