Comet Tempel-Tuttle was discovered by Tempel of Marseille in December 19, 1865. Next year, on January 6, Tuttle of Harvard University also discovered it.
Opoltzer decided its orbit. Parters and Schiaparelli separately found that it was mother comet of Leo Meteoric Swarms.
Leo Meteoric Swarms are very meteoric swarms born from Comet Tempel-Tuttle of 33 cyclic years.

Meteor is phenomenon that occurs when substance in the space hits the earth atmosphere with high speed.
Most meteors burn and turn to gas. But remains of large meteor sometime drop on the earth.
It is called meteorite.
Height where meteor emits light: About80 - 100 km above the ground
Speed of meteor: 10 - 72 km/sec.
Size: Diameter is 1 mm - a few centimeters
Weight: 1 mg - a few tens grams
Composition: Silicon compounds such as calcium, sodium, magnesium.
Iron and nickel are also contained.

Do you know of Leo meteoric swarms, about which a lot was talked recently?
Those meteoric swarms are observed as falling stars, when the dusts are dispersed by comet, pulled by the earth gravitation and move.
And the one that dispersed the dusts producing Leo meteoric swarms is "Comet Tempel-Tuttle".
Comet Tempel-Tuttle passes near the earth once in 33 years.
When the earth passes near the space where Comet Tempel-Tuttle passed, you will see more falling stars than usual.
It came near the earth in 1998. Therefore, in about 2030, Comet Tempel-Tuttle and a lot of falling stars will be observed.
Due to delicate gaps such as orbit position, they are observed or not observed depending on the region (country), but it is said that sometimes, maximum 5,000 falling starts can be observed.。
